Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index
Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index is a term in biology/ecology. It measures the rarity and commonness of species in a community.
The calculator uses the following formula to calculate the Shannon-Wiener diversity index:
H = - S pi ln ( pi ) .
Here pi is the proportion of total number of species made up of the ith species.

Richness (S): Total number of species in the community
Simpson Diversity Index (D): D = S pi2.
Evenness (E): E = H / ln( S ) .

Here pi is the probability for the i-th event.
